Softball team splits 2 games vs. Nevada

The MSU softball team split two games in Nevada during the weekend, kicking off its season with a 1-1 record.

Scoring three runs in the final inning for the victory, the Spartans upset No. 16 Florida, 9-8.

MSU lost its next game 4-3 to Southern Illinois when the Salukis hit a home run to win it.

MSU sophomore pitcher Rachel Turney recorded both the win and the loss for the Spartans.

MSU's first home game is March 24 against Central Michigan.
