April 12, 2004

MSU junior Keri Thompson upset Indiana's No. 38-ranked Dora Vastag, but the MSU women's tennis team failed to record any other points in a loss to the No. 35 Hoosiers on Sunday.

Thompson and Vastag, a former MSU tennis player, took their first set to a tiebreaker, in which Thompson downed Vastag, 7-1. Thompson then moved on to win the second set, 6-3, for the Spartans' lone point.

Indiana (13-6 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) took each doubles match and claimed wins in the remaining five singles matches for the 6-1 overall victory.

MSU (7-10, 2-4) plays its final road matches of the season this weekend at No. 55 Purdue on Saturday and No. 17 Illinois on Sunday.
