Women's hoops game follows men's contest

The MSU women's basketball team will hold its Green and White game at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 25.

The game had been previously slated for 3:30 p.m., but the time was moved up to start immediately after the men's basketball Green and White game, which starts at noon.

The Spartans have high hopes after finishing last season with a 17-12 record, 10-6 in the conference, and a 2003 NCAA Tournament appearance. MSU lost to Texas Christian University in the first round, but the showing was their first since 1997.

MSU returns five letterwinners and four starters from last season's team, including two seniors. The four returning starters all earned an All-Big Ten honor last season.

MSU also welcomes four highly recruited freshmen to East Lansing this year. In addition, the Spartans get two other players back who sat out last season with injuries.

The Spartans will play their first exhibition game at 2 p.m. Saturday on Nov. 8 against Team Concept Basketball. The regular season begins on Nov. 22-23 when MSU hosts Davidson, Florida International and Temple in the Spartan Classic.
