Spartans' hoop schedule features U-M twice

The national spotlight will be casting its light on the Spartan Men's Basketball team many times this season.

The Big Ten released this year's conference schedule Tuesday, which includes eight nationally televised games for MSU.

The 16-game stretch, which is sandwiched between byes at the beginning and the end of the season, will begin Jan. 10 at Wisconsin.

The Spartans will be featured in two consecutive weekends on CBS, battling archrival University of Michigan at the Breslin Center Jan. 17 and Purdue the following weekend in Indiana. The team will face U-M again later in the year in Ann Arbor - the first time since the 2000-2001 season the teams meet more than once.

Six of the games will be televised on ESPN, three on ESPN Plus Regional and four on ESPN Plus Local.

The conference schedule will join MSU's fierce nonconference schedule, which will take the Spartans to Ford Field in Detroit for the "Basketbowl" game against Kentucky on Dec. 15 and The Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec. 6 to battle Oklahoma.
