'U' unveils TV schedule for fall football games

The first four games of the 2003 MSU football season are scheduled to be televised by ESPN and NBC, Big Ten officials announced Monday.

The Spartans' Aug. 30 home-opener against Western Michigan will be carried by ESPN Plus, along with the next two home contests on Sept. 6 against Rutgers and Sept. 13 against Louisiana Tech.

MSU's traditional matchup against Notre Dame will be televised by NBC Sports, when the Spartans matchup against the Fighting Irish in South Bend, Ind. for their first road contest of the season Sept. 20.

The Spartans' homecoming game against Indiana on Oct. 4 will be carried by either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN Plus.

ESPN has the option of choosing which ESPN channel will air the game 12 days before the scheduled contest against the Hoosiers.

Preliminary television schedules have no plans to televise the MSU-Michigan game played Nov. 1 in East Lansing.
