Taplin is the second MSU starter to be suspended within the a week. Junior quarterback Jeff Smoker was suspended indefinitely on Oct. 24 also for violating unspecified team rules. He missed last Saturdays game against Wisconsin and will miss the Michigan game, too.
Taplin started six of MSUs eight games this season and tallied 27 tackles. Head coach Bobby Williams will announce his replacement Saturday before the start of the game.
