The MSU softball team will temporarily switch its focus from Eastern Michigan to Oakland.
Tuesdays game against Eastern (8-13, 3-3 Mid-American) was rescheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday due to inclement weather.
The Spartans (12-21, 1-3 Big Ten) will play the Golden Grizzlies (8-22-1) in todays scheduled doubleheader.
Its a fine line when you talk about the weather, Spartan manager Jacquie Joseph said. Its more of a mental focus because its so cold.
Its hard to focus when its only 35 degrees.
Joseph also is concerned with her teams consistency.
Im looking for us to put some back-to-back consistent games together, Joseph said. We need some consistent play, specifically on offense.
MSU scored just two runs in last weekends first three games, then exploded for 11 in final game.
Joseph said this stretch of nonconference games provide tune-ups in between conference play.
These games only hurt if you lose them, Joseph said. And I dont intend on losing.
You really want to keep playing to keep sharp.
Joseph said she will likely send senior pitcher Becky Gray to the mound, but it will be a game time decision. Gray (6-10) leads the team in with a 2.77 ERA and 96 strikeouts.
