Hartley wins spot on AVCA Mideast Region team

December 6, 2001

Although her Spartan volleyball career ended Saturday night, senior outside hitter Erin Hartley is still receiving reminders about her great senior campaign.

Hartley was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Mideast Region team Wednesday.

Hartley is one of 10 Big Ten players on the 12-person roster.

By earning a spot on one of the eight regional teams, Hartley, along with the other 95 regional-team members, is eligible for a place on the AVCA All-America team, which will be announced Dec. 12.

Hartley is the fifth Spartan in the school’s history to earn a place on the All-Mideast Region team.

During her senior year, Hartley led her team in kills (412) and hitting percentage (.337) and had the second-highest number of digs (236), total blocks (113), service aces (34) and assists (67).

Hartley also nabbed a place on the All-Big Ten team, earned Co-Big Ten Player of the Week honors twice and a place on Academic All-District third team. Hartley also won the Spartans MVP award, hitting efficiency award and Top GPA award.
