Mens basketball tickets still on sale

October 23, 2001

The deadline for student basketball season tickets will be extended, MSU Assistant Athletics Director John Lewandowski said Monday.

Student season ticket packages cost $152 for 16 games.

The change of deadline, which was originally set for Monday, is a result of a low number of ticket requests this season. Each season, 4,000 student tickets including the Izzone are set aside. This year, ticket sales have fallen 1,000 short of the student ticket allotment, Lewandowski said.

This last-chance sale will continue until all 1,000 seats are sold. Those students that made Monday’s deadline will be put in a lottery for lower-level seating and those that purchase tickets during the extended sales period will have to settle for upper-level.

Lewandowski said both MSU men’s head basketball coach Tom Izzo and Athletics Director Clarence Underwood are upset with the student response to the upcoming season.

If the trend continues, Lewandowski said the total number of student tickets allowed each season might have to be re-evaluated.
