Graduate student open house intends to educate on union

October 18, 2001

The Graduate Employees Union will be holding an open house Friday for all graduate students to get to know the purpose of the union and to find out more about its current contract negotiations.

The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 420 Albert Ave.

Unlike the union’s formal meetings, the event is being held primarily as a social event with food, drinks and music.

“It’s a chance for people to get together very casually to learn more about GEU,” said Amy Jones, the union’s vice president. “It will help get people activated for things that are going to be happening this year.”

The open house will be open to both union members and nonmembers.

“We’d like to see every graduate student at MSU come to the open house,” said Todd Mireles, organizer of the GEU.

“People who are teaching assistants and those who are directly involved or directly affected should really make an effort to swing by.”

All graduate students, domestic and international, along with their families and friends are invited to attend.
