Cornerback out 8-10 weeks

October 4, 2001

Redshirt freshman cornerback Jason Harmon broke his right ankle in practice Wednesday and will be out for eight to 10 weeks, MSU Assistant Athletics Director John Lewandowski said.

Harmon was participating in seven-on-seven drills and landed on his foot awkwardly.

“He planted his foot, and it just broke,” Lewandowski said.

Wednesday was MSU’s first practice of the week. The Spartans don’t play another game until Oct. 13 - the Homecoming matchup with Iowa.

Harmon, a starter, had seven tackles this season and will most likely be replaced at cornerback by junior Broderick Nelson.

Nelson also has had seven tackles in MSU’s three games.
