2002 Porsche raffle to benefit Executive Development Center

MSU students, faculty and alumni now have a chance to win a 2002 Porsche Boxster for only $100.

The Eli Broad College of Business, along with Porsche Cars North America Inc., are raffling off a Porsche in order to benefit the new Executive Development Center under construction on the southwest side of campus.

Michael Rishell, senior director of development at Eli Broad College of Business, said the new center will greatly benefit MSU.

“It’s really an extension of the land-grant mission,” Rishell said. “It very much ties our education to real world; in this case, teaching and learning from mid-career executives about problems they face in their day-to-day operations.”

The Executive Development center, an about $20 million project, is scheduled to open in the fall.

Proceeds will benefit the college as well as the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.

The car was donated by MSU alumnus Frederick Schwab, also president and chief executive officer of Porsche Cars North America.

Schwab could not be reached for comment.

Rishell said he would love to see the MSU community participate in the raffle.

“It would be a nice windfall for a student,” he said. “Our primary market is alumni and faculty as well as general citizens and car enthusiasts.”

The drawing will take place Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 at the Broad College alumni tailgate outside Spartan Stadium. The winner will be drawn one hour before kick off.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 353-4340, or online at www.bus.msu.edu.
