Some students at the College of Engineering are preparing for a week of fun.

E-Week, organized by the Student Engineering Council and other engineering students, began Sunday and will continue through Friday.

E-Week hosts events geared toward the engineering field, with scientific games and activities. Each engineering organization will adopt an event.

“Our purpose is to create awareness of engineering and interaction among engineering students,” said Nick Fedesna, an engineering arts senior and president of the council.

About 2,000 people are expected to come out for the week. Most of the events will be held at the Engineering Building.

This is the second year E-Week has been at MSU.

“It’s a national week sponsored by the engineering profession to bring attention to the role of engineers to society,” said Thomas Wolff, associate dean of the College of Engineering and adviser to the council.

There will be a film festival, date auction, banquet and other events.

Contests include poetry, egg drop, paper airplane and bridge building.

Games such as tug-of-war, duck racing and car racing will be another of the week’s features. The council will supply participants with all materials needed. The events are open to the public.

The week is sponsored by IBM, Accenture and others.
