Dorm movie rental offices get facelift

January 17, 2001

The Residence Halls Association movie rental offices have not reopened since they were closed at the end of fall semester, leaving some students in the dorms wondering why they can’t rent a movie.

RHA movie director Jerry Roll said the offices will be closed for about two more weeks while the computer system is upgraded. The offices will now do their programming internally instead of relying on the University Housing server, which has been responsible for occasional back-ups.

“We’re cleaning up and re-arranging so it’s easier to find movies,” Roll said. “We want the overall service at the video offices to improve and that is why we are closed down right now.”

Upon reopening, 36 new titles will be available at each of the rental offices. The movies, which include “Gladiator” and “Scary Movie”, were shown at the Campus Center during fall semester.

Offices are located in Brody Complex, Holden Hall, Akers Hall and Gilchrist Hall. Video movie rentals are free to all undergraduate residence hall students.
