Nader supporter proud of vote

I voted for Ralph Nader in the presidential election. There are many liberals who say my vote was either wasted or spoiled the election for Vice President Al Gore. In my opinion, this is a case of moral myopia. Nader was the only candidate who talked about the killing of Iraqi children by sanctions and who criticized U.S. foreign policy for supporting dictators and oligarchs against the interests of workers and peasants in third world countries.

Both the Clinton administration and the preceding Bush administration used radioactive depleted uranium weapons against other countries. This is a war crime. The same kind of cancers and birth defects seen in Japanese children after Hiroshima and Nagasaki are now being seen in Iraqi children and probably will occur in Yugoslavian children. Gore has never mentioned this, nor has Texas Gov. George W. Bush, nor has Sen.-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton. Silence in the face of great evil is itself evil. I would never even contemplate voting for Gore or Bush, and if I were a resident of New York, I would never vote for Rodham Clinton. I don’t vote for war criminals, the sons of war criminals or those who remain silent while atrocious human rights violations occur.
