RHA, ASMSU allocate funds to student groups

October 26, 2000

The Residence Halls Association and ASMSU, MSU’s undergraduate student government, approved several allocations recently. Among them:

  • At its Oct. 11 meeting, RHA allocated $1,500 to Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience to bring Daryl Davis to MSU. Davis, who will be on campus Nov. 6-8, is a world-renowned speaker about the Ku Klux Klan and an accomplished musician.

  • RHA, at its Oct. 18 meeting, allocated $4,000 to the North Complex Black Caucus for its Kwanzaa celebration. Kwanzaa is a holiday traditionally celebrated by African Americans, and the event will be held in December at the Kellogg Center. The celebration is open to the public.

  • In other action, RHA allocated $1,000 to cover start-up expenses for the second annual Battle Against Cancer program set for this spring. The program’s purpose is to raise money for cancer research and treatment.

  • The ASMSU Student Assembly allocated $3,100 from its special projects account Thursday to fund the printing of 5,000 voter guides. ASMSU designed the free guide to help familiarize students with candidates vying for offices. They are now available.
