While buying milk in my local Quality Dairy, I happened upon a copy of the “Girls of MSU Calendar,” and as a female member of the MSU student body, I represent one of the many female students who are extremely upset and offended by this enterprise. I have no arguments against women who wish to participate in such a sleazy act and disrespectful portrayal of themselves, but I deeply resent the fact that Tyler McClure wishes to slap the honorable name of MSU on his despicable calendar. As a female student, I should not have to worry about my reputation solely because of the university I attend, but McClure has made it impossible for me to be represented in a respectable manner.

For years, I have appreciated the columns of John Bice who examines an important feature of today’s world — the role of religion in society. He not only identifies the sources for his opinions but develops his conclusions from them in a most reasoned way. Also, his comments guarantee many negative responses from people who are insulted that religious belief itself should come under examination. But what is a university for if not to question, critique and even challenge any belief, religious or otherwise?

The 38-year-old female hung her bag with a small black purse, valued at $50, a Sony video camera, valued at $500, credit cards and $100 cash in it under her coat at 4 p.m., McGlothian-Taylor said. When she returned at 5:15 p.m., the shoulder bag was missing. Officers canvassed the area and did not retrieve the bag. There are no suspects, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The media’s reaction to the Jena 6 case is embarrassing to the journalism field. The people that have the power to bring awareness to the injustice enforced upon these six boys are sitting down and taking their sweet old time to use the power invested with their “stroke of the pen.” The people who are actively trying to point out the government’s oppression against these black students have to stand alone. By the press sitting down, by being apathetic toward the case and because you’re not black are not good enough excuses. Because this occurred in Louisiana and not Lansing also is not an excuse.
