For just one day, men on biplanes fought the German war machine while masked avengers prowled the dark streets for criminals. Scantily clad women gazed seductively and occasionally roamed the jungle, while intrepid space explorers boarded art deco rocket ships to Venus.

While I applaud Kelly Kane’s effort to address middle school sex, Birth control good idea for middle schoolers (SN 11/14) I believe her argument is flawed. The U.S. today is a model of conspicuous wealth gone wrong — our culture is characterized by large cars, big-screen TVs and growing waistlines. While statements could be made about our overall consumption patterns, Thanksgiving is approaching and most people in the U.S. are gearing up for one of the laziest days of the year — complete with copious amounts of food, making this the perfect time to address our nation’s out of control eating habits.

Almost a year after Michigan passed Proposal 2, known as the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, people still aren’t sure how MSU and other universities in the state will be affected. First off, presidential candidate Ron Paul’s policies are never going to take shape. Pulling the rug out from under people on welfare is just not going to happen. The Friday sports section of The State News is two pages short. There was an error at the printing press. As a result, the last two pages of the sports section, including the page with the comics and crossword puzzle, were not included in Friday’s newspaper. I apologize for the error. This has never happened before and we are working with the printing press to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The wedding band contained a ruby chip inset and was inscribed with scripture from Psalms 31:30, McGlothian-Taylor said. The victim’s pants were thrown into a nearby locker, McGlothian-Taylor said. Some say it brought multicultural groups on campus together. Some say it has had little impact on how MSU recruits faculty and students. Some say it made diversity efforts on campus more collaborative and inclusive for everyone. Some say it poses a real threat to maintaining a multicultural university.
