The loss to No. 8 Ohio State has put to bed any hope of playing in the College Football Playoff for No. 12 MSU, but that doesn’t mean the Spartans won’t have a nice trip for a bowl game this postseason.

The Spartans have been picked across the board by a number of media outlets to play in a big time bowl game this postseason. Below are the bowl projections from a number of different media outlets and my thoughts on where I believe the Spartans will be going this holiday season.

ESPN Mark Schlabach:

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl vs. Colorado State on Dec. 31 2014

ESPN Brett McMurphy:

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic vs. No. 6 Baylor on Jan. 1 2015

CBS Sports:

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl vs. No. 9 Auburn on Jan. 1 2015

Sporting News:

Capital One Orange Bowl vs. No. 18 Clemson on Dec. 31 2014

SB Nation:

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl vs. No. 9 Auburn on Dec. 31 2014

BTN:

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl vs. No. 10 Ole Miss on Jan. 1 2015

Fox Sports:

VIZIO Fiesta Bowl vs. No. 7 Arizona State on Dec. 31 2014

My two cents: All of the bowl game projections make sense to me and serve as potential landing spots for the Spartans. I believe if MSU runs the table and its current No. 12 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings should be able to land in one of the selection committee bowl games. Those games include the Peach, Orange, Fiesta and Cotton Bowls. If MSU weren’t selected for one of those games, then the Citrus Bowl seems as the most realistic option for the Spartans.
