Sigma Delta Tau holds first "Tr??? Week"

October 15, 2014

All week long, sisters of Sigma Delta Tau sorority are treating themselves and asking others to do the same in the spirit of a good cause.

The sisters are holding their first “Tr??? Week,” which includes a series of restaurant fundraisers at locations across campus and East Lansing.

Tonight, the fundraiser will be at Panda Express in the International Center and on Thursday it will be at Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

A percentage of the sales from each restaurant will go towards the non-profit organization, Prevent Child Abuse America.

The organization is one of Sigma Delta Tau’s philanthropies and its mission is ensuring the growth of children in safe environments by preventing neglect and abuse.

Philanthropy chair and advertising senior Ava Jacobs said she hopes to get not just the greek community, but also the East Lansing community, involved for the cause.

“This is our first year doing treat week so we’re hoping to get a lot of people to come out,” Jacobs said. “We hope to be able to give a good amount of money to Prevent Child Abuse America.”

In addition to Treat Week, the sisters are also raising money for another philanthropy, Jewish Women International.

Sigma Delta Tau will be selling their limited edition OPI nail polish, “Girls Achieve Grapeness” to raise money for the philanthropy in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Anyone interested in purchasing a bottle of the nail polish is asked to contact a member of the sorority.
