East Lansing police are investigating a homicide that occurred at approximately 11:07 a.m. at 3106 Saginaw St. at Rite Aid.

A black male clad in all black between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and around 30 years old entered the store, made contact with an employee and shots were fired. The employee has died, Lansing police Public Information Officer Robert Merritt said.

The suspect has fled the scene on foot headed eastbound, Merritt said. A K-9 search of the area was unsuccessful because of weather conditions.

There was also a shooting near Coolidge Road near the time of the Rite Aid incident, and Merritt said police do not yet know if the two shootings are related. A victim in that incident was injured in the shooting, East Lansing police said, but offered no further information.

Much of MSU's campus had previously been on lockdown, but all service centers have since reopened. Advising services have also resumed at Brody Complex. 

In East Lansing, Glencairn Elementary and Pinecrest Elementary and Lansing's Fairview School and Pattengill Academy are no longer on lockdown.
