Green outfits, green beer. Students across campus are celebrating the ultimate holiday to bleed green - St. Patrick's Day.

In addition to St. Paddy's parties throughout East Lansing, most of the local bars opened their doors at 7 a.m.

Despite the early hour, lines were long. At Harpers, the line nearly filled up the entire place, once everyone was let in, said Harper's bartender Nate Doddy.

And some students woke up at dawn to head downtown, like marketing senior Kyle McRae.

“We got in line at Dublin at 6:15 in the morning,” McRae said. “There was a long line, it took us like 30 minutes to get inside.”

This year was also the last chance for some students to experience the holiday at MSU. Communication senior Cara Wright took a walk down memory lane this year.

“As a senior, coming back here for St. Patrick’s Day and remembering all the things I did as a freshman, it’s really nostalgic,” Wright said. “But I feel like from freshman year to senior year it’s sort of a full round circle and a great journey.”

Some students even miss classes to celebrate, like studio art senior Rachel Matero.

“I’m skipping class because it’s my senior year and it’s the last time I’m going to get to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with my friends,” she said.
