One student released, another in critical condition after Cedar Village shooting

One of the victims of a shooting that occurred in Cedar Village Friday night has been released from Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, according to police.

East Lansing police Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth said two male students were taken to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds at about 8:45 p.m. in an apartment on the 200 block of Cedar Street.

He said the other victim remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Although police will not comment on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, several nearby residents said they did not hear a gunshot or notice any suspicious activity prior to the incident.

Wriggelsworth said no arrests have been made.
