A 19-year-old Okemos resident accused of stabbing and killing MSU student Andrew Singler will stand trial in September, a judge determined Tuesday.

Connor McCowan allegedly drove to Singler’s Rothbury Road apartment on Feb. 23 and fatally stabbed the 23-year-old MSU senior.

Previous court testimony indicates Singler was dating McCowan’s sister, Shay McCowan, at the time of his death.

Meridian Township police said Singler was drunk and sent McCowan offensive texts the night he was stabbed.

McCowan’s trial date was set for Sept. 30 at his Tuesday afternoon pretrial.
