Atkins pleads guilty to armed robbery charges at Admiral Gas Station

May 10, 2013

Of the two females facing armed robbery charges for robbing Admiral Gas Station, 1120 E. Grand River Ave. and spraying the station clerk with mace, Chrystal Atkins pledged guilty as charged earlier this week in court. She will be given her sentencing on June 12.

Atkins and Chelsi Howard, both 23 years old and from Flint, Mich., were each involved in the robbery and last appeared in 54B District Court, 101 Linden Street, before Judge David Jordan during July of last year.

The incident occurred on June 24, 2012. The Admiral Gas Station clerk reported that one woman was carrying a knife and the other sprayed him with mace. Both women were arrested soon after the robbery by East Lansing police.

Both of the defense attorneys decided not to conduct preliminary examinations, which normally gives the prosecution an opportunity to prove the defendant has committed a crime.
