Damaged property to be investigated

April 17, 2013

MSU police are investigating after two roommates alleged a third roommate damaged thousands of dollars of their belongings.

MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said police responded Monday to West Akers Hall after two roommates found about $2,125 of property had been damaged.

Items that were “maliciously vandalized” included speakers, bedding, a coffee maker, an Apple MacBook, a MacBook computer charger, an iClicker and clothing.

McGlothian-Taylor said it was her understanding a majority of the items were damaged but not ruined. Damage included apparently cut bed sheets and screws being taken out of some of the items.

The suspect, another roommate, denied any involvement in the destruction of property.

The case has been sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
