For students itching to hit the slopes this winter break, the sight of East Lansing’s snowless landscape can make fresh powder, foggy goggles and boot warmers seem out of reach.

But as the temperature continues to drop and flurries are expected to fall, they need not fear.

Many ski areas across the state are gearing up for the winter ski season, allowing many students, including secondary education senior Adam Woolsey, the opportunity to take a trip up north to snowboard with friends and family.

Many slopes are making their own snow, promoting early winter discounted rates and counting down the days until they are open for the full season.

Hoping there is snow on the slopes this winter break, Woolsey said his goal is to take a trip up to Crystal Mountain Ski Resort.

“They do bring in, like, thousands upon thousands of pounds of snow,” Woolsey said. “I’ll be there one way or another.”
