Local police and fire responders are investigating a vehicle submerged at the bottom of the Red Cedar River near the bridge on Hagadorn Road.

An individual driving in a car which passed by the scene reported seeing the vehicle at the bottom of the river at about 12:30 a.m. this morning, East Lansing police Lt. Larry Sparkes said.

Police and fire officials responded to the call and investigated the scene, performing an initial sweep of the car and searching the river, Sparkes said.

So far there have been no survivors and no bodies have been located.

A police boat still is combing the river and responders still are in the process of pulling the vehicle from the river.
