For the past two weeks the area along Red Cedar River behind the Auditorium has been filled with audiences attending the 49th annual Summer Circle Theatre produced by the MSU Department of Theatre.I think its pretty amazing Summer Circle has been going on for this length of time said George Peters chair of the Department of Theatre. -

Brain scanning technology is helping an MSU professor study autism aiding efforts toward MSUs goal of becoming a national center of autism research. Margaret Semrud-Clikeman a psychology professor and director of MSUs Center for Neurodevelopmental Study uses MRIs to study how the brain processes social situations in children with autism. -
2010 census to tally same-sex marriages

Students are wondering if a new census provision to tally same-sex married couples in the 2010 census will count in the struggle for equality. U.S. Census Bureau officials announced June 19 that same-sex couples would now be counted starting with the 2010 decennial census. -

An MSU researcher could unlock genetic factors that contribute to plant invasions with the help of a 630000 grant awarded by the National Science Foundation. The grant which will be distributed during the next four years was awarded last month to Jennifer Lau a plant evolutionary ecologist with the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Stations Kellogg Biological Station. -

Before the end of the year almost 90000 unemployed workers in Michigan will have dried out their unemployment benefits. The state which boasts the nations highest unemployment rate at 14.1 percent is struggling to find short-term answers to the states larger problems. Theres currently a bill sitting in the Michigan Senate that could do just that. -

Abused children in South Africa might have a new place to stay for the night because of a 5000 grant given to an MSU group. MSUs Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience or MRULE earned the grant from the Clinton Global Initiative University. MRULE supports Vumunzuku Bya-Vana Our Childrens Future VVOCF a center for children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIVAIDS in Zonkizizwe South Africa.
