Two groups of 12 MSU students painted the 72-year-old New Orleans resident’s home during an Alternative Spring Break, or ASB, trip. The house suffered damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

University officials broke ground Tuesday for the multimillion dollar Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at a ceremony that attracted more than 400 people. Eli Broad, who donated $28 million for the museum’s construction and art acquisition, and MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon discuss the ground breaking and its implications for the university. Also, the project coordinator for the museum from a London-based architecture firm discusses how the museum’s design will promote interactions between art and the surrounding communities.

Criminal justice sophomore Madison Boden puts a dollar in the instrument case of Lansing resident Hugh Cochran as he plays the tin whistle Thursday on the corner of Grand River Avenue and Charles Street. Cochran also had a fiddle and a mandolin for playing traditional Irish music. “I’m supposed to be running errands, but I needed some gas in my car,” Cochran said.

MSU professors Richard Paulsen and Gail Vander Stoep, who are serving in an advisory role for the world park concept in Micronesia, discuss the characterics of the islands. Under the proposed world park concept, the nations of Micronesia-Federated States of Micronesia would be preserved as a living park.

Marty Dolan takes tickets at the men’s basketball game against Ohio State on Feb. 21 at Breslin Center. Dolan is a 1955 MSU graduate that has been taking tickets at men’s basketball games for 50 years. He donates a large portion of his earnings from his ticket job back to the university’s Spartan Fund, which supports student-athletes.
