"Celebration of Life"

About 60 pets were honored Saturday at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s annual Celebration of Life event. The celebration honored pets who faced life-threatening situations. In this video, Veterinary Teaching Hospital director Patrick LeBlanc discusses the event and an owner tells her miracle pet story.

Festival of Listening

MSU graduate students talk about their experience as readers in the Center for Poetry at MSU’s second annual Festival of Listening. The event included 19 different readers presenting poetry in 18 different languages without translation.

The Michigan Meatout Debate

Spartans weigh in on Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s decision to declare Saturday Michigan Meatout Day. Michigan residents are encouraged not to eat meat Saturday, a day set aside to recognize healthy alternatives to eating meat.

Residents and workers at Burcham Hills Retirement Community, 2700 Burcham Drive, celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with live music and food. Recreation coordinator Alexis Schneider said they try and have monthly parties for the residents and workers that vary on theme.

Two groups of 12 MSU students painted the 72-year-old New Orleans resident’s home during an Alternative Spring Break, or ASB, trip. The house suffered damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Breaking Ground

University officials broke ground Tuesday for the multimillion dollar Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at a ceremony that attracted more than 400 people. Eli Broad, who donated $28 million for the museum’s construction and art acquisition, and MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon discuss the ground breaking and its implications for the university. Also, the project coordinator for the museum from a London-based architecture firm discusses how the museum’s design will promote interactions between art and the surrounding communities.
