Honors keep coming for wideout White

By Chris Vannini          Posted: 12/01/09 7:05pm

Senior wide receiver Blair White accepted an invitation to play in East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 23 in Orlando.

This will be an good opportunity for White to raise his stock before the NFL Draft in April 2010.

The East-West Shrine Game is essentially a college All-Star game, one of several that only include seniors hoping to impress NFL scouts.

White led the Spartans in catches (64), receiving yards (876) and touchdown (8) this season and was named First-Team All-Big Ten by the media.

White also was successful in the classroom and was named an Academic All-American with a 3.89 GPA.

It’s been quite a run for White, a former walk-on.

He broke out at the end of last season with big games against Michigan and Wisconsin and became one of the Big Ten’s top receivers this season.

White will be hoping to hear his named called in April at the NFL Draft.

The last Spartan receiver drafted was Devin Thomas in the 2008 draft. Thomas was the first receiver selected, going 34th overall.
