'Jon & Kate' not long for married world

By: Krystle Wagner Posted: 05/28/09 1:55pm

TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” season five premiered earlier this week. I rarely watch this television show for a couple of reasons.

The first reason I don’t watch this show is because I think cameras shouldn’t follow the lives of small children. Family cameras are one thing, but when television producers and fans of the show become involved, the lives of those who are being followed isn’t reality.

Reality TV shows aren’t really reality, which is another reason I don’t watch the show. While they try to come across as a family struggling to make ends meet with eight children, I don’t buy it. In one of the episodes that I’ve watched, they went on a ski trip. Not many families with eight children can afford such extravagant trips. Also, a mother of eight certainly wouldn’t be able to afford a tummy tuck. Granted, they have the money because they are getting paid by TLC, but other families don’t have that type of income.

All of that aside, I caught bits and pieces of last night’s episode.

Jon and Kate Gosselin hardly interacted, and when they did, there was tension. There have been rumors circulating that Jon was unfaithful, and in previous episodes that I’ve watched, Kate was always giving him orders and not treating him as an equal. I’m not condoning infidelity, but when the love is gone, the marriage should end. They shouldn’t stay together for the children because they won’t be happy. The divorce wouldn’t be easy on them or the children, but once everything is straightened out, it would be for the best.

The sad truth is real families get divorced when the marriage doesn’t work out. It would be a step in the “real direction.” Maybe they could get a new show after this season titled, “Jon & Kate divorced with 8.”

Get the facts straight!

Kate got a free tummy tuck from a plastic surgeon who saw her crazy stretched stomach on tv. Jon took one girl on a ski trip. They don’t pretend to be trying to make ends meet, Kate is just thrifty. Everyone knows TLC pays them well. Write about what you KNOW!

if love is gone then they just need to seperate and maybe that would better anyway

Divorce is easy

It is too easy to say that “real families get divorced when the marriage doesn’t work out”. Maybe a few more couples should work harder at the marriage and not take the easy way out. I do understand that some marriages really will not succeed but too many people bail out at the first sign of trouble. Work at it and then work at it some more before you give up. I hope Jon and Kate manage to make it work!

do your research

The ski trip to Utah was donated by the resort they stayed at, as was all of the equipment, and snow clothes. Would you turn down a free trip? You shouldn’t be ‘reporting’ about a show you clearly are biased on and know nothing about.

divorce is dumb

When people get divorced, they just want to go out and fall in love with other people, and second marraiges have a much higher divorce rate than first marriages! I don’t understand why people don’t see that loving someone is an action and has to be chosen every day. It is possible to fall in love with your spouse again! Why not try for the kids! Oh those poor sweet kids!

“Jon took one girl on a ski trip.“Actually in one of the first episodes they ALL went on a ski trip so maybe you should write about what you know, they also all went to Disney World, Hawaii, and various other places all at the expensive of TLC and pathetic viewers who enjoy watching young children being dragged around and exploited by greedy parents.

No one would be “donating” these trips to Jon and Kate if wasn’t for all the publicity. Don’t know see’s the excessively long comercial I do during this shows, especially the vacations.

Stupid article. Waste of my time.

By the way, why not condone infedility? It is wrong and hurtful and shows lack of character.

Liar Liar

I bet you watch this show all the time. “I caught bits and pieces of last night’s episode”.

How did you crack the reality TV secret as only a casual watcher. You must be a graduate student.

Wow great points are made here

As far as I am concerned I think that they are phonies, at least Kate is in my eyes. It seems to me that she is quick to jump down Jon’s throat and she treats him like one of the kids. No wonder he needed the loving arms of another women. Not that it is right. But women need to love their man and tell him how wonderful he is. Men work so hard and take such good care of the family that they need to be appreciated for all they do. To all those women who take their man for granted, I would start appreciating the good thing that you have. If not someone else will. I hope I have been of service, thank you!

Stop your whining. Reality shows aren’t reality. Yeah, we all get that. But do you prefer a different title? Who cares what they describe it as, if you like the show watch it and if not then don’t. Reality shows may not be reality but they can be unpredictable which is why people like them. People like non-scripted stuff.
