Abron receives annual Big Ten honor

December 1, 2009

MSU volleyball sophomore middle blocker Kyndra Abron was named to the First Team All-Big Ten following a strong season around the net for the Spartans.

Known for her thunderous kills, Abron is the third sophomore in MSU program history to gain a first-team selection. This season she ranked third on the team in total kills, with 259, and blocks per set, with 0.69.

“Literally, some of the best players in the country are in this conference,” Abron said. “I was really honored and surprised.”

Abron will help lead the Spartans into their NCAA first round match Friday against Kentucky. Additionally, junior libero Allyson Karaba was announced as MSU’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
