Student found unresponsive on couch; alcohol believed to be involved in death

By Brittany Shammas (Last updated: 11/22/09 11:39pm)

A 22-year-old MSU student who was found unresponsive this morning in his Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity bedroom was pronounced dead later this morning at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital, East Lansing police Lt. Kevin Daley said.

The student, an Adrian, Mich., man, was found by his roommate, who called police at about 5:39 a.m. Police found him lying on a couch in his bedroom. He was treated by police and transported to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death is unknown, but alcohol appears to be involved and foul play does not appear to be a factor, Daley said.

So Sad

This particular young man had a very bright future ahead of him. It’s so tragic that this mistake took that away from him. You will be sorely missed.

Poor decisions, made more tragic by the fact that he sounded like he was going places in life.

Thoughts with the family.

Reminder: they don’t know what caused it yet. He sounds like a good guy though.

If he lived in an apartment everyone would say that it was a terrible thing to happen to such a bright young man, but because he was part of a fraternity it is sad that some people think differently. My prayers are with his family and those that loved him.

My thoughts go out to the family and to the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

I feel that if you remove the comments section from one students death (i.e. the rosman kid) you should remove the comments from ALL student deaths. Keep things fair state news….don’t be biased to one student.

A concerned AGR mother

My son is a fellow AGR. We must remember we do not know what is the cause yet. This could have happened anywhere and to anyone. Students, If this is alcohol or drug related I hope this is a wake up call to you. YOU are responsible for yourselves! Such a preventable & tragic loss of life.
I am praying for all of you.
