I just finished watching the MSU-UMinn game and it was a complete disappointment because the referees didn’t let the players decide the game. First, they called a ridiculous amount of unnecessary penalties on both teams and then they overturned and confirmed plays that, clearly, the video showed that the decision had to be the opposite. It is incredible and its not the first week this season. In fact, it has been taking place for multiple weeks now. Furthermore, the Conference has to take necessary actions with the personnel and establish stronger referee guidelines and evaluations. We CAN’T keep running up the middle and wasting our first and second downs! Pat Narduzzi deserves every bit of criticism that he’s getting – if you told any sane person that one team scored 34 and the other team was penalized 17 times for 157 yards, they’d guess that the first team won the game. HOWEVER, Treadwell needs to own up to this mess, too. Javon Ringer is GONE. Our current crop of backs are average at best (hey, they’re young – I even think they’ll be great in the coming years… just not yet). So PLEASE play to our strengths: Cousins has a great eye and a better arm, we may have the best receivers in the conference, and we definitely have the best tight ends in the conference! PASS THE FREAKING BALL ON FIRST DOWN!!! The refs sucked – big time – in this game, no doubt. But, we can’t blame anyone but the coaches and their (lack of a) game plan for this sad loss.
