Farm Lane open for use today

By Elizabeth Brumfield (Last updated: 09/29/09 9:13pm)

Farm Lane and Service Road are scheduled to reopen today to vehicular and pedestrian traffic after being closed for about a year and a half.

The roads were reconstructed to lower Farm Lane, which now passes under two railroad crossings. The roads were widened and realigned, received improvements to drainage and added sidewalks and bike paths.

There will be intermittent single-lane closures along Farm Lane and sidewalk closures on the east side of Farm Lane until final completion.

The project is a joint partnership between the Michigan Department of Transportation and MSU.

Wow, this is crazy. I’m an msu alum, and I remember getting stopped by trains so many times walking up Farm lane from the commuter lot. I can’t wait to see what it looks like now. I’ll have to drive by there when I’m on campus this weekend for the UofM game.
