'Four' your information: MSU too good for Hoosiers
By Alex Altman (Last updated: 09/25/08 7:20pm)MSU isn’t the only team over the decades who’s looked forward to playing the Hoosiers. Read on to learn more about Indiana’s futile history in conference play.
1) Indiana hasn’t had a winning record in conference play since 1993. Since then, the Hoosiers have a 26-86 record against Big Ten opponents. The last time the Hoosiers won a Big Ten title outright was in 1945.
2) MSU has defeated Indiana to win the Battle for the Old Brass Spittoon nine of the last 11 years. Last year, the Spartans scored more points against Indiana (52) than against any other team. It was also the most points Indiana surrendered against a conference opponent.
3) Indiana quarterback Kellen Lewis is the only quarterback in the Big Ten to lead his team in passing yards and rushing yards. He’s averaging 157.6 passing yards per game and 110.3 running yards per game.
4) Indiana has three senior starters on defense and one on offense, making the Hoosiers one of the youngest teams in the Big Ten.
