Wow! What does that say about the MSU food supply? We are paying a lot of money for food service and the same food goes to the dorm cafeterias as goes to the jail. It would have been nice to receive some type of compensation since my daughter now doesn’t feel safe eating in the cafeteria until they find the source of this E. Coli. Yet we still have to pay a ridiculous amount for food service.

I think it says the MSU food supply is similar to other commercial operations: they probably buy from a vendor that, like other businesses, serves other clients.

I can confirm that this strain of E.Coli has been link with certain uncooked turkey products from a large company. MSU has pulled all non-ready to eat turkey products from it’s residence halls.

How can you “confirm” the source of this bacteria when the USDA and campus health officials themselves do not know? Tom is correct, MSU campus sources food like any other institution. This does not mean they sacrificr the quality because a correctional facility may carry one or more of the same products. In fact, the prison system has a reputation for purchasing quality products for their inmates (it does the state no good at all to kill a prisoner!)

Campus officials do know. They’re just trying to put together more information before they tell us.
