Bryan Lerg signs with Edmonton Oilers

It didn’t take long for Bryan Lerg to find a new home following the MSU hockey team’s season-ending 3-1 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday.

Lerg, MSU’s senior captain, signed a two-year NHL entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday and is expected to make his professional debut on an amateur tryout agreement with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League this week.

According to TSN, a Canadian sports network, Lerg’s deal is worth $962,000 with $175,000 in bonuses.

This season, Lerg led MSU in goals (20) and was second in points (38).

He appeared in all 40 games. As a junior, Lerg scored 23 goals and led the nation with eight game-winning goals.

Congrats to Bryan. He deserves the best in Edmonton. He was a great player here and I hope to see him excel at the next level.

who cares about getting a degree when you’re going to be making $962,000? i think he can worry about that at another time if, god forbid, he doesn’t make it in the N.
