Mitt Romney sightings, meeting with Obama generate social media buzz

By Rachel Jackson          Posted: 12/04/12 9:48pm

Since Republican Mitt Romney lost the election a month ago, he’s been the subject of some less important media coverage: Mitt Romney sightings.

The Internet has blown up with announcements of people seeing the former presidential candidate acting as an average citizen, going shopping or pumping gas — and natural instinct, on Twitter, at least, was to document the sightings.

Romney allegedly visited Costco, several gas stations, Pizzeria Limone in Salt Lake City and Disneyland, according to documented Romney sightings on Twitter, as collected by Buzzfeed.

Officially, Romney has had only one post-election outing, and that was to visit his opponent at the White House for a lunch gathering last week. No media were permitted at the lunch, but many of them spied Romney getting out of his car after arriving at the White House and speculated what the discussion would be about.

Only one photo emerged from the meeting: a cordial handshake between the two men as documented by White House photographer Pete Souza.
