The MSU volleyball team improved to 10-0 this season with a win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose in straight sets, 3-0. That 10-0 start is the Spartans’ best start since 2009, when they started 12-0.
MSU didn’t play as well as it could have, but they still put the Blue Hose away without much trouble. The Spartans took the first set easily, 25-15, before struggling a bit in set two. Presbyterian actually led a couple of times before MSU rallied to win 25-21. Set three looked much more like set one, however, with MSU winning 25-16.
Senior outside hitter Amy Dentlinger led MSU with 9 kills — the first match of the year not to feature at least one player with double-digit kills — and junior setter Kristen Kelsay had 21 assists. Sophomore libero Kori Moster led the match with 23 digs and added a pair of aces.
The Spartans will take on Georgetown and Charleston tomorrow in Charleston, S.C., before returning to East Lansing.
