Junior golfer Caroline Powers and freshman Jenny Sritragul were honored Monday by the National Golf Coaches Association, or NGCA, for their achievements in the classroom.

Each was named to the 2011 NGCA All-America Scholar Division I team for having a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.

Powers, a two-time first-team All-Big Ten performer and honorable mention All-American, owns the two lowest scoring averages in program history and holds a 3.85 GPA.

Sritragul carries a flawless 4.0 GPA and took home MSU’s Best First-Year Player Award last season with a 79.60 scoring average.

The pair’s accomplishments increase head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll’s total number of NGCA Scholar All-Americans to 27.
