Following Miami’s 67-59 win over the No. 13 MSU basketball team on Wednesday, Hurricane basketball fans rushed the court. Although the Spartans are one of the top programs in college basketball, the Hurricanes were favored to win the game — what were Miami fans so excited about?
The game didn’t end with a game-winning shot at the sound of the buzzer and it wasn’t a rivalry considering this was the first game between the two teams.
Although rushing the court seemed somewhat awkward and untimely — it usually is — it shows the respect that other fans have for head coach Tom Izzo and the Spartan program.
The fact that they were so overjoyed to beat the Spartans shows that the fans believed MSU to be a good team and a challenge to beat. Miami has taken advantage of the excitement and used pictures of the crowd storming the court to advertise ticket sales, according to MLive.
