The annual "Woofer Walk & 5K" event took place outside of the MSU Auditorium on Saturday morning to raise money for the Ingham County Animal Shelter.

Hundreds of community members and their dogs attended the event to help raise funds for the animals of the Ingham County Animal Shelter, as well as for the new animal shelter that is to be built to replace Ingham County's older building, which was built in the 1970s.

The new shelter is to begin construction next week, according to John Dinon, director of the Ingham County Animal Control.
