In order to keep residents in the loop with construction in downtown East Lansing, the city launched a new website.

The website, EastLansingBuzz.org, will give people the latest information on the status of construction projects as well as available parking, a project timeline, traffic maps and project updates, according to a press release.

There is a Downtown Construction Guide available online for business owners and employees for additional information, and print versions will be distributed to businesses, according to the release.

Business adjacent to Center City District Project will receive $100 of parking vouchers per month to give to customers, according to the release.

“We realize this project is going to cause some headaches and want to do what we can to provide helpful information to businesses and downtown visitors,” Mayor Mark Meadows said in the release. “We encourage community members to continue to support their favorite downtown businesses during the construction.”

There are also “Free Parking” meter bags with the EL Buzz bee mascot to signify free parking downtown. The five bags will move throughout the city and parking is free at the meters with the bags, according to the release.

Demolition began Nov. 20.
