City council members to take oath, elect mayor Nov. 20

Newly elected East Lansing City Council members will be sworn in on Nov. 20, according to a press release from the city.

MSU senior Aaron Stephens and reelected member Ruth Beier will take their oaths from City Clerk Marie Wicks at 6 p.m. in 54B District Court, 101 Linden St.

The city council will elect a mayor and mayor pro tem after the oaths.

In a special meeting Tuesday, Nov. 21, the new mayor and mayor pro tem will take their oaths of office at 6 p.m.

Regular city council meetings will first begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday. All three meetings will have time for public comment, according to the release.

A meeting for Nov. 13 was canceled because the election results were not finalized, The State News reported earlier.
