Despite the heavy rain, six colleges from across Michigan came out for the second day of the annual Head of the Grand Regatta for MSU's only home regatta of the year.
Attendees cheered as they stood on the muddy banks of Grand River while crews rowed their way up to the start of the course which was just east of Waverley Road.
During the women’s single event MSU junior Clare Sutka tipped her boat shortly after starting the race and the Lansing Fire Department responded to an emergency call of a person in the water, but everyone was okay afterwards.
The women's team will be compete next week in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A detailed list of the women's schedule can be found online. More information on the schedule for the MSU Crew Club can be found on their website.
