Women's golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik, left, talks with redshirt-junior Katie Sharp before a putt on Sept. 25, 2016 at Forest Akers West Golf Course. Slobodnik has held the head coaching position at MSU for 19 years.

Two MSU student-athletes made the 2016-17 All-America Scholar Division I Team through the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the WGCA announced Wednesday.

Golfers Paz Marfa Sans and Katie Sharp were two of 952 women's collegiate golfers to be recognized. The minimum qualification for the team is a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Marfa Sans, a rising sophomore, hails from Barcelona, Spain. During her freshman season, she posted a 77.08 average with a season-best 10th place finish at the NCAA Athens Regional.

Sharp held the program's third-best scoring average at 75.81 for the 2016-17 year. She placed fifth in the Big Ten Championships and has earned the WGCA All-America Scholar honors.

During head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll's time as head coach, 38 Spartans have been WGCA All-America Scholars. Slobodnik-Stoll was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in June.
