MSU women's golf earns best finish of the spring at Clemson Invitational

The MSU women's golf team earned its best finish of the spring overall with a fifth place finish at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C. during the weekend.

Overall, the Spartans collectively shot a 5-over-par 869 and wrapped up the tournament on Sunday with a 6-over-par 294 in the final round to earn their third straight top-six finish.

No. 4 Florida State University upended No. 8 Furman by two strokes for the tournament title and shot 10-under-par 854. MSU finish ahead of No. 18 Texas A&M, which placed seventh, and No. 28 Ohio State, which finished 10th.

Three Spartans finished in the top-15 of the tourney, and junior Sarah Burnham tied for eighth place with a 1-under-par 215. Redshirt-junior Katie Sharp and freshman Allyson Geer finished tied for 15th and shot 1-over par.

Sharp's finish over the weekend marked her second straight top-15 finish. 

The Spartans will return to action April 15-16 at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. It will be their last meet before the Big Ten championship the following weekend.
